Hole size in shelves.
Floating Shelf Bracket
I'm using 2 x 12 cedar for the shelves. The 1/2" holes appear very tight. I don't want to knock the shelves on for a trial fit and not be able to get them off again. Is there a suggestion? Would 13mm or 9/16 partway be a better option?

9/16ths or even 5/8ths in some cases will work. Adhesives like silicone or glue can also be used. Silicone will give a secure fit but wood glue will make this a more permanent installation
